The New 96th Street Park 


Town Commission unanimously selected the future design layout for the 96th Street Park. The design includes a two-story recreational building, playground, basketball court and multi-purpose field.

Town Commission approved selection of Lunacon (contractor) for construction of the 96th Park.

Construction is set to begin Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023.

Community members will get to enjoy and experience the following enhancements:

  • Two story LEED Silver community building, with multi-purpose room, park office, storage, restrooms and viewing decks over the park and the intracoastal waterway
  • Floating kayak launch
  • High school regulation size basketball court
  • Shaded plaza with movable seating and tables
  • Compact outdoor fitness gym
  • Custom themed playground for ages 2-12 with rubberized play surface
  • Large multi-purpose field
  • New bike racks and site furniture
  • Water fountain, bottle filler and cooling mister
  • Lush landscaping with mature shade trees
  • New field, basketball and park path lighting
  • Upgraded perimeter fencing
  • Upgraded utilities and drainage

Project Details

Expected to be complete in early 2024, the new 96th Street Park planning was completed through extensive public outreach. Lunacon has been selected as the construction contractor and construction is set to commence, Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023.
