Town of Surfside Partners with Shomron for Sister City Initiative


Surfside's Commission passed a resolution establishing a sister city relationship with the Shomron Regional Council in late 2022. 

The Town Commission hereby establishes a sister city relationship with the region of Shomron, Israel as a sister city to the Town of Surfside via Resolution No. 2022-2924-Sister City-Region of Shomron.

The Shomron Regional Council is located in the heart of Israel, just north of Jerusalem. The region is bordered by the Green Line to the west and north, with Samaria Hills National Park on its southern border and Jordan Valley Regional Council to the east.

The Shomron Regional Council comprises 21 communities that span over 390 square miles. It has a population of about 60 thousand residents who live within these communities or commute from nearby towns such as Ariel or Ma'ale Adumim for work each day. Shomron Regional Council governs the area and is responsible for providing services and infrastructure to the residents. The region is known for its beautiful landscapes, including the Samarian Hills and the Jordan Rift Valley. It also has many historical sites, such as the ancient city of Shechem and the Tomb of Joseph.
