SPECIAL EVENTS MANAGER
Under the administrative direction of the Tourism and Communications Director or designee, this position manages, coordinates and executes various special events and activities as related to the Tourist Board as well as general Town events.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
permits, external entities such as Florida Fish and Wildlife, Miami-Dade Parks and other agencies.
Stays up to date on Town wide projects that may impact special events such as Capital Improvement Projects that could include roundabouts, repaving, park repairs, new parks, and underground infrastructure.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Journalism, Digital Marketing or a related field, and must have served for at least (3) three years working in event services, production and/or event scheduling.
The preferred candidate must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and be proficient with a varied range of computer applications programs including intermediate to advance knowledge of Canva, Eventbrite, and websites. Proficiency with Adobe Suite is not required, but a plus.

The Town of Surfside is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Refuse Collector. Under the supervision of the Solid Waste Supervisor, performs heavy manual labor in the collection and disposal of refuse and trash.
1. Function as collector on a trash collection crew.
2. Walk to the garbage disposal areas of commercial and residential premises.
3. Empty trash and garbage cans into sanitation truck.
4. Use pitch forks, shovels and similar hand tools to pick up general refuse and trash from curbside and other areas.
5. Clean / pressure wash sanitation trucks and dumpsters.
6. Empty recyclables into truck.
7. Sweep at various locations, including curbs and storm structures.
8. Work with the public.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Possession of a valid Florida Drivers’ License and a High school diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma; supplemented by experience in heavy manual labor or an equivalent combination of training and experience, are required. Possession of a CDL License, desirable.

Under the general supervision of the Code Compliance Director, responsible for conducting field inspections, investigations and research to determine compliance with applicable Town Codes of residential, commercial and public properties. Enforces ordinances with fairness, firmness, tact and impartiality, while always dealing courteously with the general public.
1. Determine violations of the Town Code of Ordinances and other applicable codes.
2. Patrol the Town (including the beach) to identify violations of the Town Code and other applicable codes.
3. Conduct inspections, investigations and research to determine compliance with the codes.
4. Respond to a wide variety of calls and complaints involving violations of applicable codes.
5. Issue Courtesy Notices and after conducting research to determine necessary facts, follows up with a Civil Citation or Notice of Violation and proceeds to prosecution before a Special Magistrate.
6. Strive to facilitate resolution of violations through voluntary compliance or, when not possible, sets in motion the enforcement process by way of fines and eventually Special Masters hearing.
7. Keep management advised on a regular basis of all actions taken and Notices issued.
8. Remove illegal signs from Town right-of-ways.
9. Keep records and make reports of activities and cases filed or forwarded for filing.
10. Conduct research to develop data and gather information, as required.
11. Perform a variety of duties relative to the operation of the Code Compliance Division.
12. Maintain Code Compliance files, including updated case history for properties within the Town.
13. Record all Courtesy Notices, Civil Violation Notices, and Notices of Violations and fines associated with the code enforcement process.
14. Assist with the preparation and posting of all Notices and Affidavits.
15. Attend Special Magistrate Hearings provide testimony, and update case notes as required.
16. Assist with the tracking of administrative fees and fines assessed by the Special Magistrate.
17. Assemble all necessary files and case histories as needed.
18. Answer phone and provides information to the public.
19. Input, access, and retrieve information using a computer from multiple programs and software.
20. Work with the public and resolve citizen’s disputes as directed by the Code Compliance Director.
21. Perform night inspections.
22. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:
Possession of a valid Florida Drivers’ License; High School Diploma, and two (2) years’ experience in enforcing laws, codes, rules, regulations and dealing with the public in similar compliance functions, preferred. Active FACE Fundamentals of Code Enforcement, required. Ability to obtain additional FACE course certifications within two (2) years.
A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications. The preferred candidate must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and be proficient with a varied range of computer application programs, including Microsoft office suite. Knowledge of Iworq Code Enforcement software is desired.

Under the supervision of the Building Department Supervisor and the Building Official, performs skilled clerical and administrative work processing applications for building permits and other customer service-related duties.
This is an entry-level position in the Building Permit Clerk series. Qualified candidates with experience in construction, contracting, and/or building permitting are encouraged to apply. Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.

Performs a variety of equipment-based duties and act as the Town Heavy Equipment Operator capable of operating a large variety of heavy equipment. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:
State of Florida Certification as a Building Inspector and Building Plans Examiner through the Department of Business and Professional Regulation and a valid Florida Driver's License, required. Ability to qualify for licensing and certification requirements of the Florida State Statutes Chapter 468. Ability to meet requirements of Chapter 8 Article II of Miami-Dade County for certification as Building Inspector and Building Plans Examiner or the ability to achieve same within 12 months. Certification as Floodplain Manager by the Association of State Floodplain Managers preferred. Certification as a Building Code Administrator preferred.

Under the supervision of the Parks and Recreation Aquatic Supervisor, responsible for preventing, recognizing and responding to emergencies at the Town’s pool, beach and related recreational activities. Provides care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advance medical personnel arrives and takes over.
Watch swimmers, bathers, weather, and water conditions vigilantly.
Perform rescue, artificial respiration, first aid, and emergency work as necessary.
Warn against dangerous practices and keep weak swimmers and non-swimmers out of deep water.
Enforce rules and regulations regarding swim areas in a tactful and effective manner.
Maintain, and keep all necessary records concerning pool chemicals, accident reports and incident reports.
Maintain proper water chemistry and make necessary adjustments when needed.
Make first aid, maintenance reports, and maintain equipment.
Train physically to maintain physical abilities to perform duties and pass physical requirements.
Notify proper authorities if public refuses to obey safety rules.
Work with the public.

The successful candidates must possess the following certifications: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR / AED for the professional Rescuer or equivalent and a valid Florida’s driver’s license.
